The Power Of Words

If you know me much at all, you know that I’m a bit of a talker.  Not that I have some big, wordsburning desire to hear my own voice.   Maybe it’s because I have a part of me that feels like my opinions are just as important as others.  Or possibly because so many people have tried to silence me over the years.  I like to think that, being disabled, I have a unique perspective of the world that so many in the world aren’t privy to – Maybe, a voice that needs to be shared in honor of those who can’t use their own for whatever reason.

Regardless of the reasons, my babbling pretty much started from Day 1 and morphed into full sentences by the time I was eighteen months old.  Can you just imagine how many why’s I threw at my parents as a toddler? Sorry,  Mom & Dad! LOL  But, over the years, as my speech grew, so did my imagination and ideas.  I learned that words were also an amazing way to get outside my physical circumstances in the mopowerment and be able to explore the world around me through other people’s words.

I began to realize just how much power words held.   A few simple words can drastically change a little one’s bad day.  They can make people fall in love.  They can break the most successful people and give strength to those who would otherwise be weak.  They can build up – and they can destroy.

I want to be a builder.  I want my words to create and do things that my physical body can’t.  So, I write a lot, too.  Pretty much about anything and everything.  Not that I’m a major expert on anything, but because I hope to make someone else’s journey a little bit easier by sharing what I’ve learned, myself.  This is something I can do.

To that end, I’d like to share some of my personal writings.  I’ve started putting some of them to video, so will add them here as I make them.  I hope you enjoy my creations.

My name is Mindy Jacobsen. It's a rare occasion that I can leave my house without someone being curious about my life. Well, mainly my wheelchair. How do I have a successful marriage, raise my royal family, and do all the things necessary for running my castle without the use of my legs? Isn't it HARD? That's what this blog is all about. Come with me and I'll fill you in on all the details of finding a bubbly side to life on the rocks!
